Carlos obtained his law degree from the University of British Columbia in 1992 and is licensed to practice law in British Columbia (1993) and the State of California (2004). Carlos practices primarily in matrimonial litigation and resolution, including complex division of asset claims and pre-nuptial and separation agreements.

Nicole Garton-Jones, founder and managing partner of Heritage Law,  is a lawyer, mediator and facilitator and practices wills, estates, elder and family law. Nicole has a particular interest in mediation, collaborative family law and facilitating business succession matters.

After practicing for 50 years, William Lougheed is retired and is associate counsel with Heritage Law.

Angélique Poutissou is a lawyer primarily practising in the areas of wills and estates. She advises on estate planning and estate administration, and handles estate litigation such as applications to obtain probate, committeeship applications, disputes over the interpretation of wills and trusts, and litigation under the Wills Variation Act.

Jane Rockandel is a lawyer with a wide range of litigation experience in the Lower Mainland in the areas of insurance, general and family litigation.  She is thrilled to join BC Heritage Law’s wills and estate and family law litigation group.  She has a keen interest in wills and estate law with a particular focus on adult guardianship, elder care and Wills Variation Act issues.

Monique Shebbeare is a lawyer practising in the areas of wills and estates and out-of-court family law, with a particular interest in assisted reproduction. She advises and assists clients with wills, powers of attorney, trusts, blended family estate planning, donor and surrogacy agreements, marriage and cohabitation agreements, obtaining probate, and administering and distributing estates.

Heather Cathcart is our firm administrator.  After graduating from BCIT, Heather received her Certified Management Accountant designation in 1991 and has worked in a management capacity for a variety of industries including construction, graphic design as well as legal.

Leslie McDougall is a certified paralegal and has 20 years’ broad exposure to many areas of law with a primary focus in family law, estate administration and litigation and personal injury/insurance law.

Since launching her legal career in 1987, Elizabeth has worked in diverse practice areas, including business and corporate, wills and estates, civil litigation and family law. On obtaining her Legal Assistant Diploma in Toronto, Ontario, she first worked for a small intellectual property law firm in London, Ontario, while completing her degree at the University of Western Ontario.

Susan Schweighardt is our wills, estates and real estate paralegal and assists with the firm’s general administration.
She started her legal career in 1986 after she obtained her legal assistant certification from BCIT in Maple Ridge, BC.
